Buying Your First Car

The first big purchase you make may be your first car.

Before you buy your first car, however, you need to decide what kind of car you want to buy, figure out how much you want to spend and plan for the expenses that are part of the responsibility of owning a car. Then you will need to figure out how you will pay for it. Will you pay for it in full or will you make loan payments?

Another thing to think about is maintenance. To make sure your car runs smoothly, you will need to take it to a mechanic for service and repairs, unless you know how to fix it yourself. If you change the oil and get tune-ups regularly, you can avoid paying for expensive repair work later.

Then there’s the cost of insurance. The amount you pay for insurance depends on what kind of car you purchase. Insurance for a sports car is higher than insurance for an economical car.

All these factors must be given serious thought before buying a car. When you have considered these things and are ready for these expenses, you’re on your way to buying your first car.
